Tipped Employee Estimator

Tipped Employees are those who expect to receive at least $20.00 in tips in any given month. Tipped Employees receive gratuity for their services and retain 100% of their tips. Some employers may establish a tip pool; but may not keep the tips for themselves. Tipped Employees must make the minimum tip cash wage; which varies in each state. If the employee earns at least minimum wage with their tipped minimum wage plus their tips; the employer takes an employer tip credit against the wages they normally had to pay to bring the employee up to a full wage.

If for any reason the employee does not earn enough in cash or credit card tips from work; the employer must make up the difference and pay the employee at least the minimum wage of their state. Employees who do not earn much in tips are still owed at least the minimum wage for all hours they work, plus time and a half for working overtime.
